Aminia Bloggers Event 2021: Connecting Generations

Since its inception in 1929, Aminia has rarely needed to rely heavily on advertising or marketing. As one of Kolkata’s most iconic family run restaurant brands, Aminia has built its reputation through generations of loyal customers, unforgettable meals, and a legacy deeply rooted in the city’s food culture.
For over 90 years, families across Kolkata have gathered around Aminia’s tables, sharing delicious meals, creating lasting memories, and passing down their favourite dishes and traditions from one generation to the next. From our famous Kolkata biryani to traditional Mughlai cuisine, Aminia has become a true household name.
However, in recent years, with a rapidly growing younger population in Kolkata using social media to discover food and decide where to eat, Aminia recognised the importance of sharing the story of its legacy with a new audience. Social media platforms, especially Instagram through @aminia_restaurant, have become an essential part of customer engagement, particularly during and after the pandemic when the traditional dine in experience was heavily impacted.
To strengthen this connection, I organised the very first Aminia Food Bloggers Event, designed to showcase not only our signature dishes but also the heritage and emotion behind the brand. Bloggers were invited to create social media posts sharing their love for Aminia, what the restaurant meant to them, their favourite dishes, and the personal memories they associated with our food.
After two weeks of wonderful online entries, the top 15 food bloggers were invited to attend the exclusive event. The top three winners were also awarded a special dine in meal for two, creating an even deeper connection between our customers and the Aminia experience.
Throughout the afternoon, I had the opportunity to share the rich story behind Mughlai cuisine, the origins of the famous Kolkata Biryani known for its succulent mutton pieces, golden potato, fragrant rice, and unmistakable flavour and the journey of Aminia over the past 92 years. We also discussed our vision for the future and how Aminia plans to remain at the very top of Kolkata’s food scene for generations to come.
The event became far more than a food gathering. It was a chance to meet our customers face to face, exchange family stories about growing up in Kolkata, celebrate the city’s food culture, and of course enjoy a perfect plate of Aminia Biryani together.
From the original outlet in Zakaria Street, Kolkata to the expansion of Aminia across India and now to Dubai Production City, The Amins of Aminia continue to preserve tradition while introducing the brand to new audiences around the world.
